the XVth Encuentros Abiertos de Fotografia will be held in August 2008 .
Argentinean and foreign photographers may submit their work until November 30th 2007 at the Argentinean School of Photography.
2155 Campos Salles St. Buenos Aires, from 3pm to 8 pm.
The outcomes will be released in March 2008.
- Works must be submitted in low resolution jpg digital files
- Each file that is submitted in CD or DVD is not supposed to contain more that 30 pieces and should be sent with the artist CV as well as a statement about the work.
- This material will be destroyed after the selection unless the artist picks it from the Argentinean School of Photography between the months of March and July 2008
Since its former meeting in August 1987 until the last one last year, these “Encuentros Abiertos de Fotografia” have been opening doors, minds and exhibition venues around the country as well as the media and officials whether they have supported these events or not.
We are fulfilled for having met the necessities of: out-growing, being beside oneself to gain space, adding to be meaningful and thus drawing the attention and acknowledgment that the photography deserves.
Being aware that in some way the Festival endorses the photographers who have joined in ,we have proposed ourselves to steer their inner growth development to deepen the road.
We think it is necessary to adapt proposals, restate strategies and outrange work selection criteria and room share.
We are considering shrinking the number of official exhibitions for this XV Festival whether in Buenos Aires or in the rest of the country, but we do not mean to renounce to the national nature that the Festival has got but to be more concrete and specific when proposing an exhibition inside the official circuit. We are also trying to remark the differentiation between official exhibitions and Off Festival.
We believe that this will end up improving the quality of the rooms and exhibitions renewing the challenge for us, for the artists and for the Argentinean photography.
